The Consultation

Prior to the consultation: A detailed questionnaire (including food diary) is sent to you for completion and return. This provides essential background & makes the best use of consultation time.

The 1½ hour consultation: Using the questionnaire as a basis for discussion, a full case history is taken to build a unique profile including your medical history, health issues, current diet and lifestyle. This provides:

  • An in-depth health and dietary analysis
  • Understanding of how your own diet affects your health
  • Answers to any conflicting nutrition messages or questions you have
  • Individual programme realistically constructed to address your health concerns, symptoms and lifestyle
  • Supplement advice and diagnostic laboratory testing recommendations if appropriate

Nutritional Supplements: Although the emphasis is placed on dietary and if appropriate, lifestyle changes, nutritional supplements may be recommended for a specific period of time.

Laboratory Testing: Everyone is unique and in some cases, laboratory diagnostic testing may be recommended. This has proved to be particularly helpful in cases of IBS, stress, fatigue, hormonal imbalances and difficulty losing weight.

All programmes are devised as a collaborative process to ensure that they work for you on a practical, financial and pleasurable level. In addition to your personal eating plan, you will receive a folder containing menu suggestions, general guidelines and any other information sheets relevant to your health concerns.

Follow-up consultations: A 30 - 45 minute consultation is recommended approximately one month later in order to review progress and if applicable, evaluate test results and make adjustments as necessary. Further consultations may be recommended depending on the health condition, individual needs and progress.

Between consultations: To make sure that your programme is working for you, Carol will respond to email or telephone queries.

PLEASE NOTE: Supplements and tests are recommended on an individual basis, therefore costs are not included in consultation fee. Carol does not sell supplements, but can offer a discounted rate from the manufacturers.


Other Services

Telephone Consultations: Although Carol prefers to see clients face-to-face, telephone consultations are offered if there are time constraints or location problems.

Supermarket shop: Do you shop on auto-pilot and buy the same things every week? If you're in a food-shopping rut, want healthier options and be introduced to new foods, Carol can join you at your regular supermarket and explain the black art of food labeling along the way!

Fridge Raid: Not just your fridge but all your cupboards too! If you have food habits you'd like to break then this is a great way to start afresh. Carol will sort out what's good, what's not and what's in between and explain how they could be affecting your health. You will be left with a shopping list full of healthy alternatives.

Presentations/Workshops: If your workplace, organisation, club or group would like to hear more about any aspect of nutrition and health, Carol can tailor a presentation to your exact requirements. Recent topics have included:
